The Centre was founded in 2007 by Janice Crossland-Jones. Since then, we have helped many students achieve their goals. From learning the basics of British Sign Language (BSL) on our Foundation course, continuing to a Level 6 NVQ Certificate in BSL. We also work in partnership with BSL interpretations to offer interpreter training.
Our courses are run in a relaxed, friendly and encouraging environment where the length of the courses range from one day (Basic Deaf Awareness) to one year in duration.
We keep the size of all classes small and intimate in order to provide maximum support and as much individual tutor attention as possible. As well as teaching a range of courses at the centre, we also provide training to schools and to public service personnel at a time and venue to suit the company.
Our aim is to raise Deaf Awareness throughout the UK, as well as improve communication and confidence in BSL skills. We are continually involved in events for both Deaf and hearing people to socialise and practice together. At present the Centre is helping support a new local signing choir and attend Blackpool theatre where BSL interpreters provided.
